Cavan-Monaghan Living room
Project Description
The purpose of this project was to create a modern, luxurious, ascetically appealing, yet functional living room. The load bearing post within the room and an old fireplace brick surround in one corner made the room appear smaller. To achieve project goals, changes to these components, among others were completed as described below.
The project began with post relocation into the wall, removal of old bricks, old ceiling and bulk head drywall. This was was followed by the installation of 3D effect wall panels creating two focal walls. The focal walls are horizontally divided by a pine wood ledge that has been stained in charcoal grey to match the colour scheme of the floor and accent furniture. One of the accent furniture pieces in this room is a hidden bed which appears as a working desk until needed then the bed pulls down and the desk tucks underneath without the need to remove items off the desk. Another piece of furniture installed was a red floating desk along one of the focal walls. Tying into the colour scheme ceiling panels with a cement look were inserted. A unique custom built entertainment unit with storage shelves was added to the modernization of the room. Lighting for this room was comprised of new pot lights with three lighting modes and a wall mounted fixture which all operate on dimmer switches.
The overall design of the room was rounded out by the addition of an area rug with red accents, a three tiered swivelling coffee table and a modern couch, chaise and love seat furniture set.
